I had the chance to tell my boss and supervisor today. I asked her yesterday if we could meet at 11:30, half way through my lunch break. I have been trying to tell her for a few days now and she's always been busy but she said she would be free during that time. She also seemed to be in a good mood too, which of course couldn't hurt. When I went into the office, my supervisor was also in there. She offered to leave and I told her she could stay.
I told her that I was almost 11 weeks pregnant. She was like, "Awwww, congrats!! That's so exciting!" followed by "Oh poop." lol Obviously she is very happy for us but she knows that the program is really going to miss having me there. I am awesome at my job and they know it. I quickly added, "I really want to come back!" which she was of course happy to hear. My supervisor was like super happy for us. My boss remarked that Sept 18th doesn't seem like that far away! So definitely mixed feelings but happy for us was the top one.
I got an application for the wait list. She was super happy when she realized that because of Matt, we would be considered acceptable for entrance to our centre. My supervisor also remarked at how lucky we are! At first my boss didn't put that together but I guess she forgot I had asked a while back about what he would need to produce to prove it and qualify for entrance as our centre is for do work for the hospital.
I think around 5 months, I'll have to produce a letter from my midwife that it's safe to continue working. I told her I'd probably work into early September, as long as all goes well. :)

Good to hear that went well. It is also great news that Sweet Baby Mayer will have a good chance of your daycare.
ReplyDeleteGramzee loves you all.
Norm and I were just talking about the childcare challenge and I am thrilled that the baby will be able to attend your centre. That has got to be perfect planning! what will the daily cost be, I know infant care is very expensive. Will you two qualify for any kind of subsidy?
ReplyDeleteGRMZ: Yes, hopefully it will pan out. I'm not sweating it :)
ReplyDeleteBD: Not sure about the daily cost, etc. I think we probably will qualify but haven't looked into it yet.
