14 more days until Melon's due date! Craziness! You can read about Week 38 by clicking here. There is some serious nesting going on around here. The awesome stroller that Matt's parents bought us is assembled and ready to go! The car seat is ready to go. The crib and crib tent is ready, although we won't be using that until the baby is over the late night feedings, the melon will sleep in the bassinet beside our bed for the first while. The dresser/change table is assembled and fully stocked with washed clothes and diapers. The baby bath tub and baby towels are washed and ready. The home birth kit is assembled and has a prominent place of honour in our living room. We still have to pack the "just in case" hospital bag and I will do that tomorrow because it's important. We do have the stuff we needed to purchase already but we just need to put it together in a bag. Anyways, you get the picture so I will gift you with this video of Festivus, making sure the baby swing is "safe for baby use." What a good sibling! ;) I was hanging laundry in the nursery and I turned around and saw this so of course I had to get it on video. Close to the end of the video, I turned on the music on the swing and she was trying to "get it" with her paw, haha.
So we have a midwife appointment tomorrow at nine. I always said that I didn't want to get cervical checks, as they seem unnecessary. My Mom has booked her flight for September 13th, hopefully to be here for the home birth. This has changed my thoughts on the cervical check. I'd like to have a better "guess" at how ready my body is for labour. My midwife said that she could check my cervix at my next visit (which is tomorrow) if I would like. Basically all it will tell us is if the cervix is hard and closed or dilated or effaced at all. I haven't been feeling too hot in the mornings for the past few days. Can't really put my finger on it just really slow to get moving. Could very well be just not sleeping well and my body resting up. Nothing I can't handle.
xo
Ps, The melon had hiccups for the first time ever, it was pretty amusing :)
EDIT: decided to wait until next week to get the cervical check! :)
Loved it!....what a princess! I am patiently awaiting my flight...
