Let the countdown begin!

It's hard not to start a countdown at this point. It helps me gauge my nesting. 43 days until my guess date. Obviously, I don't take that as the literal day that the baby will be born but it's nice to have a general idea. I only have 18 days left of work before I start my maternity leave. I decided after talking to the midwife, who suggested I only work until 37 weeks that starting my leave on September 1st seems a bit more reasonable than September 9th since my guess date is September 18th. My last day of work I will be 37weeks3days. It also works better (in my mind) for work because September 1st is when the new toddlers move over to the 3-5 room so that way they don't have to get used to me and then have me leave after a week. I mean, they already know me very well but it's different to be in my room with me all day. The person who is taking on my supervisory role (the new position I just signed a contract for) when I'm on maternity leave is coming over from the Toddler Room so I hope that it will be a smoother transition for the children than if they had hired someone externally. I am, of course, so excited to be starting my maternity leave soon. Life is going to change so much, instantly. It's even hard to really wrap my head around. I'm excited, mixed with a tiny bit of nervousness but I know it will be fun albeit exhausting. The unknown is exciting. That being said, I am actually going to really miss work, the job itself, the routine, the staff and the families...especially the children. They will keep growing without me. I hope to go visit a lot while I'm on maternity leave, I will definitely miss everyone! I know I will have a routine (eventually) of our own. I already have some ideas about what that may include as I'm absolutely in love with this area we live in now. I am becoming very excited.

I am a bit nervous about the home visit that will replace my next midwife appointment. The reason I'm nervous is because of the stairs up to our place. I hope they still consider it "accessible." We have about 5 stairs at the bottom, a flat landing that's about 4 feet long, and then a case of stairs with a larger landing at the top. The stairs have a no slip coating and the rail is brand new and very sturdy. They also scheduled a "positioning" ultrasound, I think more of a comfort to them as we're planning a home birth. I guess so they'll know more about the birth scenario so they can be prepared. That will take place on August 19th at 7:30 am. Luckily I work 10-6 that day so I didn't even have to reschedule work which was nice because this month there were so many changes with the schedule, none of which were mine. I am 34 weeks as of tomorrow so here is some information about that.

I am planning to do the baby laundry tomorrow including diapers and clothes. I actually wasn't feeling 100% this week as it was our first hot week. I think I may have been fighting off a cold too. Anyways, I want to take it easy this weekend so laundry seems like a fluffy type chore to do. The dresser is set up so we can start filling it up. Hopefully we're going to assemble the crib tomorrow, although the baby won't be sleeping in the crib right away. We bought a bassinet for the first while so the baby can sleep in our room to make late night feedings easier on all of us. I'd still like to have the room set up though, it makes me feel more prepared.

Our good friend Adrian is coming to visit us this weekend coming up. He arrives Thursday evening and I think he leaves Sunday. Matt, Sam and Adrian are hitting up the Lions/Bombers game on Saturday. Go Blue! I'm impressed they are the top team in the league! I hate to say it but The BC Lions really stink. I will remain a Canucks fan though, sorry Jets. Although, I have to admit I am a Dustin Bufuglien fan.

Okay, I'm talking sports so I think that means it's time to wrap it up. Goodday!
